Makinson d’Apice had been in their existing office space for many years and the configuration was starting to impact upon their business. They needed to move to new premises that could allow them to grow, and better more effective, but not at an increase to their bottom line.

Back in 2012, Spitfire Control managed the relocation of DLA Piper into 1 Martin Place. Fast forward 10 years and 6 other projects across the country, we were again appointed to assist in their workplace renewal. Do they stay or go? DLA Piper, a Global legal practice, recognised that the nature of work was changing back in 2012. They resolved to use their Sydney office relocation as a tool to define a new hybrid model.

Moving any firm that has been in the same space for 35 years was never going to be easy. However in this case Clemenger’s new location was a heritage listed wharf. The complex statutory approval process, in conjunction with a base building upgrade, tested the available timeframe, plus the ingenuity of the team.

Spitfire Control managed the relocation of Diageo to North Sydney back in 2012. When they recommitted to the space in 2019 they also recognised that some parts of the fitout no longer suited their current work practices. Some spaces were redundant, others needed change.
